Shopping At Rome Fiumicino Airport

What better way to kill some time at the airport than by doing some shopping. Rome Fiumicino Airport has a large selection of luxury Italian brands as well as well-known international brands. There are 140 stores in total in the airport, 50 of which are tax exempt if you are travelling to a non-EU country. Terminals 1 and 3 have the most shops in them, and Terminal 2 only has a handful. The tax free shops listed above are located in Terminal 3. Most of the stores are open between 7am and 10pm so you can do some shopping no matter what time your flight departs.

Dotted in between all of the clothing, accessories, and gift stores are a range of cafes and restaurants so you can purchase some refreshments while you shop. If you are travelling with someone who doesn’t like to shop they can wait here while you shop as well. You will not find café chains such as Starbucks as the Italians produce much better coffee, however there will be chains such as McDonalds to eat at. There are wine bars and restaurants selling more substantial food like burgers or pizzas as well.

Whether you are after clothing, jewellery, gifts, or alcohol, and tobacco there is something for everyone here. Remember all your purchases will require your boarding pass to be scanned by the cashier. Your purchases at the airport don’t count towards your baggage restrictions so you can take an extra bag of duty free on board the airplane on top of your cabin baggage. There are restrictions on the amount of alcohol and tobacco products you can buy tax free so make sure you check the restrictions. The purpose of your purchase of these items needs to be for personal use or gifts rather than commercial purposes. Any liquids purchased duty free will be packed in a clear plastic bag that will be sealed and show a receipt giving evidence of same day purchase. This will be checked by security staff before you board.
